Plinio il Giovane’s letter sent to his friend Domizio Apollinare, in which he describes his villa in Tucsis, is a meticulous report of the spaces and of the landscape surrounding the villa. The description became so celebrated that it influenced the characteristics of suburban villas until the modern age. In the description of the internal rooms and of the characteristics of the villa, Plinio applies the standards set out by Vitruvio in De Architettura (1st century, BC). The description of the villa by Plinio is always done in a way which affirms the amenity and healthiness, the relaxing environment, calm, a refuge from the noise of the city.
